In this course students will gain fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to function as entry level Emergency Medical Technicians. Students will be able to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Students will be able to perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
This is a hybrid course with an online didactic portion and several skill lab sessions. Each student must also complete 24 to 48 hours of clinical field experience with 8 patient contacts.
Skills lab is at the ACLS Co, dates TBA, but will be mostly Saturdays, roughly every 3rd week, and approximately 3 weeknights throughout the course.
Required book is: Prehospital Emergency Care, 11th edition by Mistovich and Karren. Please have the book purchased prior to the start of the course. Additional workbooks and Brady packages are available to go with the textbook as well if the student wishes to purchase them separately. Books can be purchased through me for $119 plus $5 shipping, or can be picked up.
NREMT Psychomotor Exam is tentatively scheduled for December 20th at the Anoka Technical and Community College.
Once this course is passed, you will take the National Registry CBT (written) exam as well as a National Registry Psychomotor (hands-on skills) exam, these are separate from the course. These exams are required to obtain licensing in the state of MN as well as nationally. After passing the required exams EMT’s can work on an ambulance, in an ER, progress to a paramedic program, and more.

Course cost is $1,100. Testing fees are separate from the course and will be paid at the time of testing.
